#23 - Mom Guilt

The mom guilt cycle is REAL.  Especially when you have a toddler and you’re trying to learn how to consciously parent.  Even when you don’t have all of that on your plate, the cycle of guilt is real and sometimes you just need permission to set boundaries and break that cycle.

CATCH UP

Have you felt like you’ve been under attack lately? There’s a lot being thrown at us from all directions. I think it’s time we go back to the basics. Back to the gospel, back to scripture and back to the why & the faith that gets us to our message from our mess. Welcome back for season two!

Have you ever read the verse “Be still and know that I am God” and been like what the heck God, do you realize how much is going on right now?  How am I supposed to be still?  How am I supposed to just not be anxious and just rest in you- what does that even mean to “Be still”, I have responsibilities and goals and problems?!  Relatable, right?  Let’s talk about it and how we can approach this realistically as busy, burdened people and children of God.

I've always had this longing for a rooted community, a place that felt familiar, a place that was accepting- a home that I could be a part of.  The problem?  Anxiety breeds procrastination and procrastination breeds isolation & I am a procrastinator with extreme anxiety.  Can you relate?  Have you ever put off something you desperately wanted & needed because you just couldn’t get past the first step?

I was struck with the very honest realization this week that I needed to slow down.  I needed to be more intentional.  Not for my own sake, but for the sake of my family.  You can be busy and on top of everything, as you are, but it doesn’t mean that we can let the most important part of being a mother and a wife go.  We have to slow down so we don’t miss, forget and trample with our to-do.

We’ve all heard of the Proverbs 31 woman, right? But what about the 1 Peter 3 wife?? Let’s dive in this week to see what it looks like to be a spiritual leader in our household, especially if your spouse is struggling.

I am so pumped to have my lovely Instagram friend, Allison, aka @marriedandahouse to share her story of homemaking and personal transformation throughout her first years of marriage and motherhood.

Today I’m opening up and being vulnerable with my body, breaking away from binging and the blessings that occur when you disconnect your worth from your body and invite God into your health journey.

In a continuation of last week’s discussion about the body and how to take care of it in a God-honoring way, I’m excited to dive in with practical tips.  We’re talking about whole body wellness.  How to care for your mind, body, heart and spirit.  I am sharing a ton of tips in this episode that is a bit longer than normal, but definitely worth it. Let me know your favorite tip and area you want to work on and we can be accountability partners!

Life is predictably unpredictable.  Circumstances come and go that shake us to our very core.  Our emotions flip and flop and life can feel very unsteady most of the time.  Thankfully God sees us and does not abandon us- in fact He provides an unshakeable foundation if we choose to root ourselves in Him.  Tune in to hear my story and hear what God has to say about being in these seasons and how we can rely on Him to get us through.

Are you hurting?  Feeling broken, hopeless, discouraged or defeated?  In an unscripted and vulnerable episode, I’m sharing some of what God has been teaching me lately about praise, even through the tears, even when I’ve got nothing left.

It seems like every week there is a new issue at hand that if we don’t speak up & out about- we are deemed problematic or *insert derogatory term* simply because we aren’t posting on social media or participating in whatever action has been deemed necessary to check off that box that day.  It’s exhausting and everywhere we look, including in the church and among believers, we are seeing division.  I want to talk about this and I challenge you to listen in and hold yourself accountable to how you’re handling these situations and how you’re treating others in the process.  I believe that you can stand in “silence”, listen in and let me know what you think.

My first year of motherhood was a doozy. I experienced so many changes and challenges with my body, baby, family, marriage, business and in my faith.  I want to take a bit of time in this last episode before my mid-season break to share with you the top ten things I learned in this first year.

In the midst of political unrest and a lot of spiritual warfare, a lot of us feel unsettled, isolated and defeated.  I want to encourage you today to use your voice and if you feel like you’ve lost it, get it back. I want to speak truth over you to replace the lies that you might be starting to believe.  Most importantly, I want you to know that you’re not alone.

Gossip. This is quite literally the last thing I wanted to talk about but I know if I asked all of the women in the world to raise their hands if they struggled with gossip, they’d all raise their hands (or at least the honest would).  This is NOT a topic I wanted to talk about because I have been a horrible offender of this specific sin. But I know God wanted me to dig into this topic and share what His word has to say about this. So let’s do it. Let’s commit to holding each other accountable!

Can you defend yourself?  Tune in for an interview with Self Reliance Coach and Firearms Instructor: Casey - @caseylynntactics and learn all about the importance of women taking self defense into their own hands and how you can get a little bit more prepared to take on any situation.

Anyone else in the toddler stage? Today I’m sharing a few of the principles I’m applying as I step into really parenting and setting a solid foundation for the rest of his time in our household. Listen in if you’re in this season or will be soon!

According to Ecclesiastes 3 there is a time for everything.  Sometimes the timing is not ideal and not how we imagined our life to be.  If you’re in a season like that right now, I encourage you to lean in and hear what God has to say.

God made our bodies, He made our minds and He made our hearts and He cares about all of them and how they work together.  Sometimes we focus in on one area so much that we forget the others exist. Today I’m excited to be interviewing my friend Lauren, of @laurenrachellefitness.

Even in the busiest moments, God is still with us.  He doesn’t require quiet to speak.  I encourage you, if you’re in a season of fast and loud, ask for peace and ask for Him to speak even if it’s not quiet.  You may be surprised just how much you hear.

In a world where social media influences so much of our day-to-day lives, I just want to remind you that not everything is for everyone… and that’s okay!  Listen in today for encouragement of how to own where you’re at and listen into what God is calling YOU too, regardless of peer pressure.

We are pregnant with Baby Sandrell #2!  Listen into this week’s episode to hear all about how I prepared for this pregnancy, a few things I’m doing a little differently and my mindset going into this year.  If you’re not in this stage or if you’re not in a place to hear about pregnancy, I totally understand and I’ll be back next week with non-baby related content.

I’m sharing a beautiful story of how God so tangibly and evidently worked in our lives, 5 days in a row.  I believe this was for a few different reasons but one of the most important was so that I could share and hopefully encourage anyone with our testimony to see the goodness of God.  Everything isn’t good all the time, but He is good all the time.
